Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert are teaming up for a late-night TV crossover on Tuesday.
The pair showed up as guests on one another’s shows at the same time on September 30. It comes exactly one week after Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the television following its indefinite hiatus, and two months after Colbert shared that the Late Show with Stephen Colbert is coming to a halt.
During the opening monologue, Kimmel mentioned how Colbert would be showing up as his guest and even joked about how the FCC does not wish for others to see it.
He added a special thanks to the whole Trump administration and detailed more about how it’s now available for a limited period of time, only while introducing him as a guest. The host also referenced the pair’s crossover on their respective shows.
‘We thought it might be a fun way to drive the President nuts,’- he added, and that’s when he took aim at Donald Trump and mentioned how the USA was just moments away from the government shutdown, which started on October 1 and is the first since 2019.
Colbert’s CBS show was canceled just three days after Colbert slammed CBS’s parent firm, Paramount, for giving Trump $16 million in a huge settlement.
Meanwhile, Kimmel’s show was pulled by ABC following the host’s comments about the death of political commentator Charlie Kirk on his show on September 15.
