Tragic reports are arriving from New York City, where three bodies were recovered from the city’s East River on the same day.
Officials were seen speaking to media outlets, and they confirmed that amongst those recovered was a girl who had been missing for a week.
As per the WCBS, first responders and officials with the New York Police Department’s Harbor Unit found the body of the teenager, who was identified as Graceline Ilogene from Manhattan, around 12:30 pm local time on Friday.
Ilogene has been missing for seven days now, as reports linked to her falling into the river arose on May 30.
Her white sneakers, jacket, and stack of boots were found where she is believed to have entered the water, a spokesperson for the NYPD previously shared with PEOPLE.
The Post shared how Ilogene’s friend had made efforts to warn her to get out of the water because she was not a strong swimmer.
Another spokesperson for the NYPD also mentioned to the outlet how there were no witness accounts and that the girl dropped her phone and went into the water to retrieve it, despite the conjecture by some bystanders.
