Chris Rock sought therapy with his daughters after THAT Oscar slap back in March 2022.
The comedian and actor was notoriously slapped in the face by Will Smith after he made a joke about the MiB actor’s wife’s alopecia on the stage of the 2022 Academy Awards.
Following the shocking incident that took both the audience and the viewers at home by surprise, Rock refused to pursue charges against the Hollywood lister.
Meanwhile, it took Smith months to properly apologize for his actions and take responsibility for his disturbing on-air assault.
Rock’s close friend, Leslie Jones, now spoke to People and revealed that the comedian required therapy along with his daughters, aged 19 and 21, after being humiliated in front of the world.
“That s**t was humiliating. It really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters,” Jones said.
She also insisted she was so “infuriated” by Smith’s actions that she was ready to head over to Dolby Theatre even though she wasn’t watching the show in person.
“You don’t know that I was going to jump in my car and roll up there. I was so f***ing mad on so many levels,” she added.
The candid interview comes after Jones in her book admitted that she’s forged a strong bond with Rock after first meeting the comedian in the 90s.
Over the decades, the pair became close friends and Rock even agreed to write the foreword for Jones’ new book Leslie F***ing Jones.
“For a long a** time I was just mad. Chris Rock did a f***ing joke. I know Will, too… I was like, you couldn’t handle that s**t afterwards. This is the Oscars. The whole world is watching,” Jones added in her interview.
“I was like, ‘Chris, when he got up why didn’t you run?’ I would’ve been running around that stage like ‘Will, calm down. Jada, call your man!’”
