Tragic reports have confirmed the death of US-based chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky at the age of just 29.
The heartbreaking news of his passing was announced by his family through his club Charlotte Chess Center who also requested for privacy on the matter as they continue to grieve.
The cause of death is yet to be shared publicly, sources mentioned. Naroditsky earned the title of grandmaster at the age of 18 and earlier in his youth, he won the Under 12 world championship and also authored chess strategy books as a teen.
He remained consistently ranked among the world’s top 200 players when it came down to classical chess and was among the top 25 in blitz chess during his adult career.
Recently, he had won the title of the US National Blitz Championship and placed ninth in the blitz world championship the year before.
Furthermore, he was so well known for streaming his matches and providing commentary and education through different platforms such as YouTube and Twitch and helped to broaden the appeal for chess. Tributes were seen pouring in from stars in the same industry. Many praised the young talent for his great skill and determination to win big despite his young age.
