Cher has spoken out about her relationship with a boyfriend 40 years her junior as she admitted it looks “ridiculous” on paper.
During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 76-year-old ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ singer poked fun at her romance with music producer Alexander Edwards, 36.
The couple previously confirmed dating rumors after they were seen together holding hands in public on several occasions.
“Well, on paper it’s kind of ridiculous. But in real life we get along great. He’s fabulous and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve,” Cher says.
“He’s very smart, he’s very talented and he’s really funny so – and I think he’s quite handsome.”
Besides listing her boyfriend’s qualities, the singer also noted that she would “never go on dates” if she didn’t meet younger men in her life because men closer to her age allegedly aren’t that fond of her.
“If I hadn’t met younger men in my life, I would have never had a date, because older men just didn’t like me all that much, do you know what I mean?” she added.
According to Cher, she previously had a “couple of boyfriends” around her age whom she gave a try. But, as it turned out, “they just didn’t like me for some reason,” she insisted.
The interview comes shortly after Cher shared some saucy details about her new relationship while responding to her fans’ comments and questions.
“On paper This Looks strange (Even 2 ME) A.E Says Love Doesn’t Know Math,” she captioned the photo of Edwards on Twitter.
She later added: “I’m Not Defending us. Haters are Gonna Hate… Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”
Cher also insisted her boyfriend is “smart, kind, and hilarious” before saying they “kiss like teenagers.”
