Cher has spoken out about her relationship with a music producer forty years her junior after fans called her a cougar and accused the man of using her.
The 76-year-old ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ hitmaker appears to be head over heels in love with her new boyfriend, 36-year-old music producer Alexander Edwards, whom she was spotted hanging out with numerous times since they confirmed dating rumors.
Now, Cher finally spoke out and admitted that their relationship may “look strange on paper” because of their massive age gap.
She, however, insisted that “love doesn’t know math” as she went on to defend her love story from cruel trolls who branded her as a cougar and suggested her boyfriend might be using her for exposure and fame.
“On paper This Looks strange (Even 2 ME) A.E Says Love Doesn’t Know Math,” she tweeted as she shared a photo of her shirtless boyfriend.
In the comments, she added: “I’m Not Defending us. Haters are Gonna Hate… Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”
The two-time divorcee also responded to a fan who backed her up saying that “one person’s happiness doesn’t depend on what others think or say.”
Responding, Cher wrote: “One person’s happiness doesn’t depend on what others think or say. Just my opinion.”
In the comment section, Cher further opened up about her relationship and shared her boyfriend’s best qualities which include him being “smart, kind, and hilarious.”
Perhaps going a tad too far, the singer also claimed they “kiss like teenagers” despite their age gap.
Cher and Edwards met earlier this year during Paris Fashion Week.
