The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen together again as they walked outside Windsor Castle to inspect the sea of floral tributes for the much-loved Queen.
A source revealed that the historic scene only took place after a negotiation which delayed Harry and Meghan’s arrival by at least 45 minutes.
Sources say Prince William extended an olive branch to his brother Prince Harry by asking the Sussexes to join him and Kate on a walkabout outside the royal estate after receiving a call from King Charles.
The surprise appearance of the ‘fab four’ delighted the crowds, who were waiting outside the gates to mourn Her Majesty’s death.
William and Harry and their wives Kate and Meghan went on a 40-minute walkabout to meet well-wishers and inspect the floral tributes laid outside the gates of Windsor Castle.
According to The Times, the camps needed extended negotiations which delayed the Sussexes’ arrival by 45 minutes.
“The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier,” a senior Palace source said.
“The Prince of Wales thought it was an important show of unity for the Queen at an incredibly difficult time for the family.”
Some experts also predict their joint appearance could provide a turning point in the strained relationship between the Waleses and the Sussexes, who were in the UK on a pseudo royal tour when the monarch’s health deteriorated.
It is believed that Harry and Meghan had not made any plans to meet with any members of the Royal Family despite staying in Frogmore Cottage, only 700 yards away from William and Kate’s new Adelaide Cottage.
