Saturday Night Live has made history by hiring its first-ever ‘non-binary’ cast member.

Molly Kearney prefers to be acknowledged by the they/them pronouns. They are best known for the role of Fern Dannely in the television adaptation of A League of Their Own. And now, getting them confirmed for the new role is just mindblowing.

Announcing the news on their Instagram, they just couldn’t stop ranting over how privileged and honored they felt over the ordeal.

The roster is out, and the debut is all set for Thursday, September 15.

Sharing the new image on Instagram featuring the headshot, the image came with the caption ‘MEATBRICK MOVED TO NEW YORK!’

There was more excitement to come, and this was featured in a new story on Instagram. It stated ‘head exploding’- thank you for all the love, everyone.

Kearney is based in Los Angeles and is considered to be a major staple across the circuit. They have performed in a number of shows across the US, and their role in production can’t be forgotten for ‘The Big One.” This is an outdoor standup show that takes place every month.

As you can imagine, both Kearney’s fans and those of SNL couldn’t control their excitement over the news.

They felt it was a long time coming and praised the show for taking this daring step.
