The GoFundMe account that was initially set up for the Canadian trucker convoy who drove Justin Trudeau out of his own office and into hiding has reached $10 million.
While officials claim that the account has been frozen till organizers offer a detailed schedule regarding how they believe the funds will be spent, the news is quite mind-boggling for obvious reasons.
Sources claim that the amount collected is more than what the nation’s own political parties managed to gather last quarter.
The page on which the account can be found is referred to as ‘Freedom Convoy’ and it comprises of all those Canadian truckers who happen to oppose the Prime Minister’s vaccine mandate and also disagree with his goverment’s harsh COVID restrictions in place.
The convoy’s GoFundMe page recently spoke about how strongly it opposed the Canadian Goverment’s stance regarding the sudden implementation of rules and mandates that they believe could be destroying the foundation of industries, businesses, and livelihoods too.
“We are a very peaceful nation that has also managed to protect so many other countries around the world from issues like tyrannical governments that oppressed its own citizens. And now, it appears that the same thing is happening in our country too,”- the statement on the page added.
As of now, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is present at an undisclosed location in Canada after he was forced to flee with his family due to security concerns.
Just yesterday, the Prime Minister revealed on Twitter how he had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be isolated for this reason.
But at the same time, he has also gone on to mention how he would not be interested in engaging or holding any talks with the truckers because he believes they are a huge insult to the truth.
