A couple was left to make one of the most difficult decisions of their lives which included telling doctors to stop CPR on a young child.
The pair are now opening up about how they saw the worst nightmare of their lives play out right in front of them.
Morgan and Cody explained how getting pregnant in June of 2021 was the biggest moment of their lives and they couldn’t wait to welcome the little one.
They had two kids, Soren was the eldest. The pregnancy was smooth and doctors always talked about the child’s strong heartbeat that was detected at all times.
But during the ultrasound at 20 weeks, things changed all of a sudden. This is when they were informed about the child having a birth defect. Now this was a huge pill for them to swallow. As per doctors, his pulmonary artery which carries oxygen to the lungs from the heart was never formed properly.
That was not the only issue. He had holes at the bottom of his ventricles and it all gave rise to a very difficult and complex medical situation.
After his birth, things were fine, and then at 8 months, he had surgery to have the defects operated on. Things did go well at the start but soon the parents realized all was not well. A moment came when he couldn’t breathe and within a few seconds, he passed away.
This is when parents told the doctors to stop as it was of no use. The child was gone.
