A mother has tragically fallen to her death in front of her own son while taking a selfie to celebrate a successful bungee jump.

Elizaveta Liza Gishchina slipped and fell a whopping 290 feet moments after she was filmed jumping from the platform to mark the major birthday occasion.

The 45-year-old mother of two could be seen in that video laughing and claiming: “Let’s go!”- right before she screamed with joy while plummeting towards the earth.

The horrifying footage shared online showed her swinging from an elastic rope, just above the ground, after which she was left uninjured. Liza opted to re-scale the tower after the first jump, located in Pavlovsk, near Russia’s St. Petersburg, in order to take a selfie as a keepsake. Tragedy struck when she stood on that platform, 290 feet without any safety ropes.

Russian media reports spoke about Liza, adding how, without safety ropes… climbed back up, slipped, and fell down. This horrific incident was seen by her distraught Nikita.

The 23-year-old had attended the abandoned boiler tower with Liza, now used for daredevil rope jumps, to celebrate her grand birthday. A spokesperson from 23 block, who is the rope jumping firm that operates the famous facility, shared a statement on the tragedy. They declared a moment of mourning, recalling how the mother of two was a fun, free-spirited, and kind individual.
