Bruce Willis is enjoying special moments with his family as his health continues to decline amid his battle with aphasia.
Earlier this year, the Hollywood legend’s family revealed that the actor has been diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder resulting from damage to the brain that affects communication and causes the victim to gradually lose the ability to speak or understand speech.
Now, a source close to the 67-year-old and his loved ones revealed that the family is “cherishing every moment” because they know that “he won’t be around forever.”
“They know he won’t be around forever. So they’re cherishing every single moment,” the insider told RadarOnline.
The source further revealed that Bruce’s ex-wife, Demi Moore, is in “constant contact” with the actor and his current wife, Emma Heming.
“She takes every opportunity she can to spend time with him. If she’s not there by his side, she’s calling on the phone just so Bruce can hear her voice,” they said.
The family is currently celebrating the festive season together with Moore and Willis’ daughter Tallulah in Idaho where they continue family traditions such as game nights and pajama parties.
Sadly, however, Bruce is “slipping further away” and it breaks his loved ones’ hearts to see him this way, the source claimed.
“Bruce can’t say much, and it doesn’t seem like he’s grasping much of what others say. So Emma’s really been the voice and communicator for him,” the insider added.
“There are days when they see glimpses of the old Bruce, but they are brief and far between.
“It seems he’s slipping further away from them and it breaks their heart. The girls can’t imagine Christmas without Bruce.”
