Actor Adrien Brody was seen facing fierce criticism over his disgusting act that the cameras caught before he went on stage to receive his accolade for Best Actor.

The star did win the biggest honor of the night, but it was overshadowed by his disgusting behavior during the ceremony on Sunday.

The 51-year-old star won for the hit movie The Brutalist and was very emotional about the whole thing. He also beat out other leading contenders in the category including Timothee Chalamet and Sebastian Stan.

But as he was seen walking up the steps to the stage, he turned back around, took his gum out of his mouth, and threw it towards his lover and former ex of Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman. And it was definitely to viewers’ disgust.

Chapman was pictured running up towards him and diligently catching the gum before he made the speech. The star’s speech consisted of how grateful he was to win this award, and how it signaled a destination for him, and how grateful he is to have character references in the movie.

But it was more than just an honor for his career. He called it a chance to begin again and to be able to work for at least 20 more years to prove that he’s worthy of relevant roles.
