The Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr on Monday rejected all accusations about the government forcing Disney with no choice but to sideline Jimmy Kimmel.
Instead, they kept on insisting how the late night talkshow host’s suspension arose from very weak ratings. “Kimmel happens to be in the situation he is right now due to poor ratings and not because of anyting that happened at the government level”- Carr mentioned at a forum in New York.
Car has been facing plenty of bipartisan backlash since last week when he expalined to podcaster Benny Johnson that we can do this the easy way or the hard way. ‘These firms can find ways to change conduct and take action swiftly on Kimmel or there will be additional work for the FCC ahead’- he added.
Sen Rand Paul went on to mention how the comments were absolutely inappropriate. Brandan Carr has got no business weighing in on something like this, he continued.
Sen Ted Cruz also shared his two cents on the matter, adding how Carr’s warning was right out of Goodfellas, likening this to a mobster shaking down a bar owner. Former CEO of Disney says this was all done due to out of control intimidation and explained how the network’s compliance raised serious queries about executives.
