The shocking reports took social media by storm and saw him talking about his trans daughter, Airyn De Niro, who made the bold decision yesterday, sharing the news through her account online.
Robert, who is a father to seven children, mentioned how he would always support the decisions that his kids make, including this one.
He furthermore applauded his daughter for having the strength and courage to come out like this in the open. ‘I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter’- Oscar-winning star continued in a statement to TMZ yesterday.
The 81-year-old star says he loves and supports all those decisions that his children think are in their best interest because he feels after a certain age, they know more about themselves than their parents.
He also lashed out at the media for making a huge deal out of nothing.
‘I don’t see the issue or why the media has to interrupt and give opinions for things that are so personal to her’- he added. The star requested everyone to please keep their opinions to themselves, as freedom of expression was every citizen’s fundamental right.
