South Korea is raising eyebrows after its air force jets were seen dropping bombs on homes that left 15 people seriously injured.
The news was a shocking moment for the world, where footage showed the destruction carried out by the jets on a civilian area during a joint exercise between America and South Korea today.
The accidentally bombing occurred in the city of Pocheon, which is reportedly near the border of North Korea.
The 500 pound bombs were abnormally released by the KF-16 fighter jet outside the firing range. This caused unspecified civilian damages, which included the homes and a church.
A statement was released on this front that included: ‘We are sorry for the damage that arose from this abnormal drop act. We wish all of those injured a speedy recovery’- the statement read.
The Air Force explained how it would now be establishing a committee to better investigate the manner and why it arose. This includes taking into consideration the scale of damage. It also shared how the jets were part of the air force’s joint live-firing drills with the army. For now, America is yet to comment on the accidental bombing.
