US President Donald Trump is not getting much love after making some bizarre comments about Canada that have angered its prime minister.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has slammed Donald Trump after the US President stated that he has complete power over Canada in regards to the allegation that he attacked the US.
Since the 60-year-old won the polls in this year’s elections, it’s been said that the tensions between the two leaders have been on the rise.
The two countries have been trying hard to broker a trade deal that would work out well for both nations. But as talks were ongoing, Canada rolled out a digital services tax, which would hit companies such as Amazon, Google, Meta, Uber, and Airbnb. This would arise in the form of a three percent levy on revenue from users in the country.
It would be applicable retroactively, leaving American firms with a $2 billion bill by this month’s end.
Reacting to this news, Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social, slamming Canada’s government for its introduction, adding how the attack was a direct hit on America.
Trump called out Canada as a nation that was not at all easy to deal with, even speaking about how they charged farmers as much as 400% tariffs for so many years.
He even accused Canada of trying to copy the EU, which has done something similar, causing US tech giants to suffer.
