Keith Urban detailed a dark period in his marriage to Nicole Kidman during an emotional speech one year before their bombshell separation.
The country superstar told AFI Life Achievement Award Gala attendees in April last year about the time that he almost blew up their relationship.
The American Idol judge who wed Kidman in 2006 explained how his substance abuse struggles came to a head barely four months into the union.
‘My addictions that I had done really nothing about, blew our marriage to pieces’- Urban recalled. He then mentioned how just four months into the marriage, he entered rehab for a span of three months. But that did not cause Kidman to lose hope, and she stood by his side, through thick and thin.
‘I had no idea what was going to happen to us’- he continued. ‘And if you want to see what love in action really appears like, give that a whirl!’- he added.
Urban praised the celeb for sticking by his side during the tough period of time. ‘Nic pushed through each negative voice. I am sure even some of her own, and she still chose love’- the star concluded with Kidman having tears in her eyes regarding his speech.
