JUST IN: Actress Jennifer Lawrence BLASTED For Mentioning She Was ‘First Woman’ Action Lead In ‘Hunger Games’


Actress Jennifer Lawrence is feeling the heat from the world for making a statement that many people feel is far from the truth.

The celeb was seen quoting how she was the first woman action lead in the movie Hunger Games. And people feel that is not actually correct, causing her to receive backlash on the statement.

The news came as a part of an interview that was conducted for Variety Magazine’s ‘Actors on Actors’ series. It had Viola Davis and it happened to be released on Wednesday.

This is where the 32-year-old celeb went super bold on her stance to mention she is the first woman to lead an action movie.

On that note, she went on to recall how she was doing Hunger Games and nobody had ever put a woman in that leading position of an action movie. And that was because they felt it would never work.

She added how it was always the males that best identified with such roles and that male leads was better suited. As one can probably imagine, the celeb did not like the sounds of that.

“We were told that a boy cannot identify with a female lead but vice versa was true. I knew I was destined for this role and there was nothing that was going to stop me”- she continued.

“It just makes me so happy!”- the celeb went on to confess. She felt that each time a movie does end up coming out that breaks that stereotype and mindset, it makes her feel proud that she was in the leading position.

While the film may have made her a household name, critics feel that to be called the first female lead in an action film was a bluff. This is why users took to their accounts on Twitter to start a debate on the matter.
