Former US President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken both claim to take some credit for Donald Trump’s peace plan that resulted in a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel on Monday.
On the social media account of X, Biden, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, mentioned more about how deeply grateful and relieved he is that the Gaza war is coming to an end.
‘The road to this deal was never going to be easy,’ he shared. But he also mentioned how his administration is to thank for working relentlessly and around the clock to bring hostages home and get relief to civilians in the state of Palestine, and put an end to the war.
He did give Trump credit for getting a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line. ‘Now, with the backing of the US and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope endures a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal measures of peace, dignity, and safety’- he concluded.
‘It begins with a clear and comprehensive post-conflict plan for Gaza,’- Blinken mentioned. He did add how Trump adopted and built on the plan that the Biden administration designed, sparking outrage across the board.
