The unbelievable moment showing the high-profile and controversial prisoner deal between Russia and the US is now going viral online.
The moment was caught on camera despite the deal being under the cover for so long.
WNBA superstar Brittney Griner was seen moving out of Russia on a private plane back to the US while the Russian ‘Merchant of Death’ arms dealer was witnessed going back home to Russia respectively.
Griner was behind Russian bars for the past 10 months after she was convicted of possessing cannabis at an airport.
Now, she has been swapped for international arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Bout has reportedly always maintained a sort of innocence in the public. He was an ex-Soviet military officer and was currently in the middle of serving his jail sentence which comprised 25 years in the US.
This was related to charges put forward by the US regarding a conspiracy to kill Americans, acquire, and then export anti-aircraft missiles.
There were also some claims that he was providing material support to a leading terrorist organization.
Meanwhile, Griner was arrested in February and was therefore sent off to a penal colony in the past month. But then all of a sudden, the media became aware of a new and striking deal brokered between the Biden administration and Russia regarding Griner’s release.
Viral images featured top security officials carrying key documents regarding the high-profile prisoner exchange showcase men in suits shaking hands at the secret airport where Griner was put on a plane and sent back home.
And while the Biden administration may be looking at this entire matter as a victory, it’s quite evident that many Republicans are furious. They feel that US Marine Paul Whelan is still in jail and being a veteran, he should have been given priority a long time back.
