Belarus is set on teaming up with Russia and invading Ukraine, an intelligence report has warned.
Since the beginning of the war in eastern Europe, Belarus has shown support for its ally Russia by allowing Putin to move his troops through Belarus and attack Ukraine from their country.
Now, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Belarus’ Alexander Lukashenko held a strategic meeting in Moscow.
Following the assembly, the Ukrainian government warned that a Belarus invasion is imminent and that the neighboring country could attack at any time.
While the Center for Strategic Communications, which was founded under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, suggested that the invasion could begin on March 11 at 9pm (7pm GMT), there is as of this writing no sign of an attack.
“According to preliminary data, Belarusian troops may be drawn into an invasion on March 11 at 9pm (7pm GMT),” the intelligence report which claims that Belarus is “set to invade Ukraine” read.
The news comes as the Ukrainian government accused Russia of staging a “false flag” attack near the Belarus border in a bid to lure them into a fight against Ukraine.
According to Defense minister Olexiy Reznikov, two Russian SU-25 bombers carried out attacks on Ukrainian soil after crossing into the country from Belarus. Following the attacks, the same planes allegedly also bombed areas in Belarus in presumed to trick the two countries into a conflict.
“The purpose of this provocation is to force the current leadership of Belarus into war against Ukraine. Moscow is trying to bind you with blood,” Reznikov said.
As Kyiv’s top security official Oleksiy Danilov confirmed, Ukraine does not want to fight Belarus and will show restraint unless Belarusian soldiers follow Russia’s suit and invade the country.
