A flight from Southwest Airlines underwent a major delay after the plane’s pilot was arrested and charged with DUI before takeoff at the Georgia airport.
Pilot David Paul Allsop was arrested during the early hours of the morning before the plane was scheduled for its takeoff.
As per arrest records from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, he was charged with driving under the influence and was then taken into custody immediately.
He was held on a $3500 bond as per the CCSO. As of now, the spokesperson for Southwest did not respond immediately to the request for comment and it’s not clear if he had an attorney who was handling the case as of this moment in time.
Other leading news outlets spoke about how they were well aware of the situation entailing an employee on the flight 3772 from Savannah’s Hilton Head International Airport.
That employee was removed from duty immediately as per the statement shared. Customers on the flight were immediately accommodated to another one but they did have to face a major delay at their destination.
The news has sparked outrage amongst many passengers, especially after the rise in aviation safety fears and the large number of fatal plane crashes.
