Bebe Rexha was attacked on stage while performing during her New York City concert.
The 33-year-old singer and songwriter who rose to fame after signing with Warner Records in 2013 was on Sunday assaulted while performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in NYC.
The Grammy-nominated artist was reportedly walking up and down the stage when a member of the audience suddenly threw a phone in her face.
After getting struck by the device, the singer slowly collapsed to her knees in pain and her aides rushed to her side.
It was later revealed that Bebe Rexha, who is currently on her ‘Best F’n Night Of My Life’ tour, required three stitches to close the wound on her face caused by the flying device.
DailyMail.com also confirmed that the perpetrator was identified as 27-year-old Nicolas Malvagna of New Jersey. The young man was arrested and charged with assault.
“On Sunday, June 18, 2023 at approximately 2200 hours, police were notified of an assault that occurred at the concert space of Pier 17 located at 89 South Street, within the confines of the 1st Precinct,” the NYPD announced through a spokesperson.
“A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a 27-year-old male intentionally threw a cell phone at a 33-year-old female performer on stage, striking her about the face.
“The individual was taken into custody on scene and removed to the 1st Precinct for arrest processing. The aided female was removed by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.”
After the incident, angry fans of the singer slammed the suspect for ruining the concert and voiced their concerns for the beloved performer.
“We were all having a h*ll of a good time and so was Bebe, we were all having a blast, I mean who would even do that??? We hope you’re ok @BebeRexha,” someone wrote.
“Absolutely great show ruined by a fan throwing their phone at @BebeRexha hopefully she is ok after that,” another said.
A third commented: “‘Fans’ suck so bad because what do you mean Bebe Rexha had to go to the f***ing hospital and get stitches in her head because someone threw a phone at her and it hit her??”
