A young YouTuber from Thailand has reportedly been arrested after choosing to eat bat soup during her video recording.
The incident is believed to have left so many people in shock as the species of bat was stated to be of protected nature and after the entire pandemic ordeal, this was just beyond upsetting for some people to witness live.
The young woman who also works as a teacher was identified to be Phonchanok Srisunaklua who has a channel called Gin Zap Bep Nua Nua. This is a sentence that goes on to translate into, eat spicy and delicious.
As one can imagine, the incident has sparked widespread outrage and fury among people viewing it as they felt it was just not okay for obvious reasons.
The video was uploaded last week and it featured her digging into a large bowl of soup. And while there are countless food channels on the app that are dedicated to food and drink, the fury over her video was never seen on any other channel, sources explained.
The food item comprised a broth that was dark brown in color and it had a series of tomatoes floating inside. Many called it out for its Lesser Asiatic yellow bats in the bowl.
The woman claimed to have purchased the bats at a local market that was situated near the Laos border in the northern part of the Thai country. This is reportedly the same region that is home to bats infected with the closest variant of the Sars-Cov-2 infection that led to the terrifying pandemic.
The fact of seeing the bats inside the soup was already so terrifying for many to witness. But the fact that she took them out with her hand and started to tear them apart and dip them into a sauce while calling it delicious.
