Two people were reportedly killed when a helicopter crashed and landed on a barge alongside the Mississippi River after hitting power lines.

The horror crash unfolded midday in West Alton, Missouri, as pictures from the scene showed a huge fire on the barge and smoke began to fill the entire skyline.

The two victims who lost their lives in this tragedy were said to be on board the helicopter, as per officials.

Local news outlet Alton Telegraph shared more details about how the helicopter struck power lines before it made a crash landing. First responders led by the Alton Fire Department are now responding to the scene, and authorities closed the nearby Clark Bridge after the tragedy.

A river worker shared more details about how they witnessed the shocking incident and referred to it as something out of a movie. The worker, who refused to give their name, spoke to Ceder News, adding how the helicopter just started to drop and slam the barge, right before it exploded into a huge fireball.
