Several Ukrainian women reportedly gave birth while sheltering in underground bunkers amid the Russian invasion.
While heavy gunfire and explosions are underway across the capital of Kyiv as Russian soldiers advance in a bid to occupy the city and overthrow the Ukrainian government, a glimpse of hope was born in the most unusual place.
According to the reports, a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman gave birth to a baby girl named Mia while hiding from the onslaught in a shelter.
After the young lady’s screams were heard by the police, officers aided the woman in delivering baby Mia and called for an ambulance to rush her to the hospital for treatment after she gave birth.
The mom’s story was quickly branded as a glimpse of hope for the embattled nation undergoing an invasion.
“Mia was born in shelter this night in stressful environment – bombing of Kyiv. Her mom is happy after this challenging birth giving,” the Democracy in Action Conference chairwoman, Hannah Hopko, wrote as she shared a picture of baby Mia clutching onto her mother’s hand.
“When Putin kills Ukrainians we call mothers of Russia and Belarus to protest against Russia war in Ukraine. We defend lives and humanity.”
Mia isn’t the only baby born during the war with Russia, whereas a baby boy was welcomed into this world in the basement of a maternity ward after the building was partially destroyed.
With the mother’s permission, the doctor who assisted with the delivery shared the touching photos online and wrote: “In conditions, far from those who deserve a new life – the voice of the newborn… It’s a boy!”
In the pictures, the baby boy is seen lying on his mom’s chest after the delivery in the basement.
Congratulations to the new moms!
