People Demand That The Queen Is Replaced By Steve Irwin Instead Of King Charles On Australian Money

Thousands of Australians have spoken out and called for the Queen’s face to be replaced with that of Steven Irwin on Aussie dollars.

Following Her Majesty’s death on September 8, the world plunged into a mourning period with billions of people paying their respects to the late monarch.

Meanwhile, some Commonwealth nations, including Australia, announced inevitable changes to their currencies that involve the Queen’s face being replaced with that of King Charles III on coins and banknotes.

Many Aussies, however, suggested that there were other people – and even some animals – who are more deserving of decorating Australia’s dollars.

“Time to replace Queen Elizabeth’s face on cash with Steve Irwin or Heath Ledger, I reckon,” one person suggested.

“Steve Irwin deserves our highest form of currency,” another said.

“Can we get a petition to get Steve Irwin’s face on money in place of the queen going? It’s what we all want,” the third wrote.

In response, one Aussie suggested: “The $5 note will explode in value if we put him on that note.”

While plenty of people called for Steve Irwin to play a role in the re-envisioned bank notes and coins, some Aussies suggested timeless options would be a better choice.

Among other suggestions, people advised the government to put native animals, national foods, or popular places on bank notes instead of people.

In spite of all the ideas, however, The Reserve Bank of Australia has already announced that King Charles will be featured on the new $5 bills.

“The reigning monarch has traditionally appeared on the lowest denomination of Australian banknote,” they said in a statement.

The RBA further reassured the people that $5 notes featuring the Queen will remain in circulation and will not be withdrawn.
