A volcanic eruption in Indonesia ended up spewing huge amounts of colossal ash towers into the sky on Tuesday.
As per authorities, both locals and tourists are being told to stay far away.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, which is a 1584-meter-high twin-peaked volcano on the tourist island of Flores, started to erupt.
The incident has raised the alarm, and all Bali flights were canceled as a result. There were no reports of any casualties so far. But the fact that it can really cause serious loss of life has people talking. Residents were told to avoid activities within a 7-kilometer radius around that center.
Amongst those airlines to cancel the flights included the likes of Air India, Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Juneyao Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Australia to and from Bali, which is present west of Flores.
Flight data from Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport late on Wednesday showed that more than 37 flights were canceled due to this eruption.
The twin-peaked volcano erupted several times in November and ended up killing nine people and forcing thousands more to flee.
The geology agency warned of potential lahar flows, which are a type of mud or debris flow of volcanic materials, in case heavy rain does take place.
