The Anonymous collective has released personal information of all the soldiers fighting in Ukraine, it has been revealed.
According to the hacker group that declared war against Putin shortly after the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, private data of 120,000 Russian soldiers deployed to Ukraine has been made open to public access.
As The Sun reported, the collective released the Russian soldier’s names, birth information, home addresses, and even passport numbers.
“All soldiers participating in the invasion of Ukraine should be subjected to a war crime tribunal,” Anonymous wrote on Twitter as they shared a link to the site where the information can be accessed.
The news comes a month after the collective declared cyberwar against Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin.
“The Anonymous collective is officially in cyberwar against the Russian government,” they previously announced.
Since then, the group reportedly hacked and brought down a variety of sites belonging to the Russian media outlets and even that of the Russian government.
“Anonymous has proven to be a very capable group that has penetrated some high value targets, records and databases in the Russian Federation,” Jeremiah Fowler, the founder of the cybersecurity company known as Security Discovery, said in a report about the group’s hacking claims.
Speaking of the collective’s rising popularity among the ordinary people, Fowler added: “They’re almost like a cyber Robin Hood, when it comes to causes that people really care about, that no one else can really do anything about.
“You want action now, you want justice now, and I think groups like Anonymous and hacktivists give people that immediate satisfaction.”
