A news anchor was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after striking a man in the face with a beer bottle.
The incident occurred in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where 28-year-old WIS-TV news anchor Kamie Roesler reportedly smashed a beer bottle on a man’s head after the two got into an argument revolving around the politics.
As the police revealed, the quarrel took place at the North Prairie Avenue at around 4.30 on Sunday afternoon.
While Roesler and the 32-year-old victim were initially just exchanging words, things took a turn for the worse when the news presenter got ahold of a beer bottle.
According to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, the 28-year-old had picked up a beer bottle before striking the man in the face.
Following the showdown, the victim refused medical attention despite suffering cuts to the face. As for Roesler, she was apprehended by the Sioux Falls police on aggravated assault charges.
“They’re not in any type of relationship. The victim said that it was some type of political argument,” police spokesperson Sam Clemens confirmed as he revealed that Roesler and her victim knew each other.
As it was also found, the news anchor worked at the KSFY station for over five years. In September 2019, she was hired by KSFY’s sister station WIS as an anchor.
Following Roesler’s arrest, the spokesperson for the station informed The State that they’re aware of the incident.
