It looks like Donald Trump is staying true to his promise of releasing January 6 prisoners as a part of his executive rights to pardon them.
Two brothers convicted of Jan 6, 2021, Capitol attack were the latest group of rioters to be freed on Monday as per Trump’s orders. These were issued to hundreds of other participants.
Andrew and Matthew Valentin shared how grateful they were to be out of the Central Detention Facility in Washington DC, just before the clock struck midnight.
Officials from the Trump administration confirmed the news and were located outside the jail to ensure no hiccups occurred. They also shared how it was indeed Elon Musk who was the mastermind behind the sudden freedom decision.
The historic pardon is not sitting down well with many Americans who feel they were imprisoned for a reason and to pardon their crimes was a disgrace to the country’s law and order, not to mention the justice system.
The matter has been a highly debatable and controversial one for quite some time now. It’s also being called out a monumental moment in history and many felt the president should think twice before offering such pardons.
