Amber Heard appears to suffer from two personality disorders, a clinical psychologist has testified.

As Johnny Depp’s high-profile defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard continues, the actor’s legal team called clinical psychologist Dr. Shannon Curry to the stand.

As the expert witness told the court, the Aquaman actress exhibits traits consistent with people who suffer from Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

“The results of Ms. Heard’s evaluation supported two diagnoses: Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD),” Dr. Curry said.

Histrionic Personality Disorder, also known as a “dramatic” personality disorder, is a psychiatric disorder characterized by a pattern of actions and behavioral habits suggesting that a person is seeking attention and has an excessive desire for the approval of others. The disorder is often linked to narcissistic traits.

Borderline Personality Disorder refers to a mental health disorder encompassing self-image issues and causes sufferers to struggle with managing their behavior and emotions, leading to difficulties managing their everyday lives.

As Dr. Curry testified, she was originally hired by Depp’s legal team to review the couple’s relationship. Last year, however, her focus shifted to the psychological evaluation of Heard.

Following her evaluation, she concluded that the actress “grossly exaggerated” her PTSD and let Depp fall from being “idealized to the dumpster” in her own eyes.

She added that Heard’s BPD was characterized by an “underlying terror of abandonment” that potentially resulted in “desperate attempts” to make the feeling disappear.

“You’ll see relationships start very intensely, extremely close,” Dr. Curry said.

“This might be their perfect soulmate and initially everything seems great but reality sets in, people are not perfect.

“Most of us accept people as a whole, [but] with a person with BPD, things are in these extremes, that person goes from being idealized to dumpster, they are totally devalued, they’re the worst… then there will be a repair because the person with this disorder does feel remorse.”

While Heard sat quietly during the testimony, she at one point rolled her eyes and shifted uncomfortably.

Curry went on to say that people with BPD shift their values and interests constantly as she called Heard a “calculated” and “sophisticated” case. She also suggested Heard is someone who could “tend to hit you where it hurts a bit more” and be “very destructive” in the process.

“They take on the personality of the people they want to be around. The way they dress. Interest. The way they talk,” Curry added.

The remark comes shortly after eagle-eyed viewers pointed out the resemblance between Depp and Heard’s court outfits and said the actress was copying the Hollywood star.

Describing behavioral habits of people with HPD, Curry added:

“They will make a lot of accusations, reactivity, a lot of escalation, they can react aggressively, physically prevent partners from trying to leave.

“Often they will be abusive to their partners, sometimes physically restrain them.”
