An Amber Alert was issued for a 9-year-old missing girl who vanished suddenly while riding her bike.
Charlotte Sena, 9, was last seen riding her bike around Moreau Lake State Park in upstate New York on Saturday evening at around 6.15 pm.
While enjoying her camping trip with her family, the young girl suddenly disappeared and her family could not locate her despite a desperate search.
On Sunday morning, an Amber Alert was launched with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children saying the girl was “taken under circumstances that led police to believe that (she is) in imminent danger of serious harm and/or death.”
Appealing to the public for help in finding her daughter and bringing her back safely, the girl’s mother, Trisha Sena, broke into tears as she called Charlotte a “good” and “trusting” kid.
“I just want my daughter back,” she told the Albany Times Union.
According to the reports, Charlotte’s family launched a massive search that involved other campers shortly after the girl failed to return to the campsite with her two close friends.
When no contact with the child was made for thirty minutes, the police were called and a total of more than one hundred people began scouring the area for the missing child.
Charlotte was last seen wearing a bright Pokémon T-shirt featuring Pikachu and Eevee. She wore dark blue pants, black Crocs, and a grey bike helmet.
An investigation into the suspected kidnapping continues.
“We are leaving no stone, no branch, no table, no cabin unturned, untouched, unexamined in our search to find Charlotte,” New York State Governor Kathy Hochul said.
“Hearts are broken today in New York. Hopefully there will be a reunion. Hopefully there will be a family that has been traumatized but reunited.”
