Alec Baldwin is suffering from anxiety and is haunted by the past in the wake of the Rust on-set tragedy.
Last October, the 64-year-old actor became the center of controversy after accidentally shooting director of photography Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.
In the following months, Baldwin has been named in a series of lawsuits, whereas he could potentially still be charged over the death of the cinematographer.
Now, Ireland Baldwin, the daughter whom Alec shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger, spoke out and said she can’t begin to imagine what her distressed father is going through.
“It’s so heartbreaking. My dad is suffering tremendously and I love him and I can’t imagine what he feels like and what’s running through his head but the entire situation is just so devastating,” she said as she appeared on Red Table Talk alongside her mother.
“He deals with anxiety greatly, but he’s someone who grew up in a family that would suppress that as well, or tell him he’s weak for feeling that way.”
She added:
“There’s things I would go to my father for, but if I ever even tried to have this conversation in any way with him, I don’t think he would be able to really absorb any of it.
“He can’t really sympathize as much with it, but it’s not his fault, and he’s gotten way better.point 424 |

As Ireland also recalled, she became “angry” and went into a “full defense mode” after hearing “people’s responses” to her father and the incident.
Speaking out was also Basinger who admitted that she hasn’t seen eye to eye with her ex-husband because he’s a “challenge.”
“We’ve had our challenges. And I don’t think Alec was emotionally or mentally available for that kind of talk. Alec, you know, operates in a very different way in his life,” she said.
