BREAKING: Man Is Arrested By The FBI After TSA Found An EXPLOSIVE DEVICE In His Checked Baggage


A man was arrested by the Bureau after attempting to smuggle an explosive device onto a passenger plane on Monday.

40-year-old Mark Muffley from Lansford, Pennsylvania, was arrested at Lehigh Valley International Airport after his checked baggage triggered an alarm that prompted a closer inspection by the TSA.

According to the reports, the man was about to board an Allegiant flight from Pennsylvania to Sanford, Florida, at the time of the incident.

Upon closer inspection of the suspicious baggage, the TSA discovered a “circular compound” consisting of multiple fuses and a “granular type of powder.” The explosive device was reportedly hidden inside the lining of the baggage.

After the discovery, the FBI and bomb experts were called to the airport and the entire terminal was temporarily shut down.

“This granular type of powder is consistent with a commercial grade firework,” a criminal report said.

It further explained that the fuses implemented in the makeshift design could be used to trigger the explosives, therefore posing a “significant risk” to the aircraft and the passengers on board.

Muffley has since been apprehended by the FBI and is facing charges of attempting to place an explosive device on an aircraft and possession of an explosive device at an airport.

Following the precautionary closure of the terminal at 11 am, a security check was conducted and business at the airport resumed in full at around 2 pm.
