Tragic reports have confirmed the death of a woman who was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries after getting mauled by a lion in a zoo located in Queensland.
The woman was said to be in her 50s and was reportedly flown by an air ambulance to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a serious arm injury.
The horrific attack reportedly took place at 8:20 am on Sunday, and it’s believed the woman lost her arm in the process. She was in a stable condition and underwent surgery.
A statement was released in the later hours of the day by the Darling Downs Zoo, which shared how the woman was not one of the immediate family nor a keeper and was busy watching the zookeepers at work in the carnivore precinct.
One animal was able to grab her by a single arm and cause severe damage to it, and the zoo also explained how the lion never left the enclosure, and there was no risk to staff members or members of the public at this moment in time.
They did express their grievances on the matter to the victim’s loved ones, but no action would be taken by the zoo on the animal that attacked her, it confirmed.
