President Donald Trump’s DOJ is considering weighing out a new policy that would target the trans community.
This includes revoking their rights to own guns, calling them mentally unstable. The news is a controversial one, especially considering that only 0.1% of the mass shootings that took place were linked to the trans community.
Many citizens wonder why the same law is not being applied to the rest of the community, where the threat is greater. This order seems to be coming into place following the mass shooting incident related to a Catholic School and Church in Minneapolis.
Both CNN and ABC News reported that senior officials are close to limiting the rights of the trans community to possess these firearms for the trans people. The alleged conversations are still in the early stages and come nearly a week after the 23-year-old trans woman Robin Westman opened fire at the Annunciation Catholic Church and ended up killing two people and injuring more than 21 others.
If this does come into play, the policy would be the latest in a string of attacks on the trans community since President Trump took charge of his second term.
Since the signing, the president has had the Pentagon identify and get rid of transgender service members from the military. He’s also ordered the flying of trans flags in public, especially their removal from all US Government buildings. If that’s not enough, he ordered federal prisons to relocate trans inmates to facilities that accommodate the gender they were assigned at birth.
