Actress Rosanna Arquette was involved in a shocking car crash at a popular shopping center in Malibu.
The 63-year-old Emmy Award nominee, who is best known for her appearance in the likes of Silverado, After Hours, The Big Blue, and The Executioner’s Song, reportedly crashed her vehicle into the Point Dume Village shopping center on Tuesday morning.
While the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the actress was involved in the incident, Captain Mike Rivera of the Los Angeles Fire Station 71 said “no one was injured.”
“Around 9:45 a.m. a vehicle that was attempting to park, it was unknown exactly what happened, but instead of backing out, it went forward, and took out three pillars that support the roof. Luckily no one was injured, we had two tables nearby but luckily no one was sitting there,” Rivera explained.
As a precaution, Arquette was taken to the hospital after the crash despite not suffering any visible injuries. Luckily, the patio the actress drove on was free of other people at the time of the incident, and no one was injured in the collision.
“Right now we’re just waiting for engineering to come out to deem the building safe and make sure it’s safe,” Rivera added.
As of this writing, the circumstances leading to the bizarre crash remain unclear. The authorities, however, believe that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
Rivera further revealed that businesses in the area were forced to shut down for at least several hours to “make sure nothing collapses” due to the damage that Arquette’s car had done to the shopping center.
