So many environmental activists could be seen taking to the streets in New York City as they protested against climate change in honor of earth day.
According to local authorities, hundreds of citizens were blocked in traffic as the protesters began to chant out slogans and wave banners that supported their climate change movement.
One witness described the situation as complete and utter chaos and panic as protesters swarmed traffic from all corners, leaving many in a trapped and uncomfortable situation.
The protest is said to have been organized by the group called Extinction Rebellion in New York City, but there were believed to be many other groups involved.
The exact location for the protest was described by local media reports as Bryant Park in New York City, which is situated slightly off 42nd Street and near 6th Avenue.
This information is said to be shared by the group itself through its official social media account present on Twitter.
One post by Twitter users referred to the giant swarming of climate change activists as rebels as their main aim was to cause panic and havoc. Some of the demonstrators began to take control of key positions such as subway station entrances, complete with a sign that mentioned, “We are in a climate f***** emergency.”
Another post could be seen mentioning, “10th day of the rebellion and these rebels continue to try and take control of our city midtown!”
The sudden campaign struck the Big Apple just one day after Earth Day where the group is said to have organized another similar protest recently in Washington DC. This is where one protester could be seen climbing a giant government building’s facade with his banner that read, “No new fossil fuels!”
