Newlywed Pastor Drowned During Honeymoon As Strong Current Swept Him Away From Shore


A young, loving pastor has passed away from drowning after a strong current swept him away from the shore while he was on the honeymoon with his wife.

22-year-old Dalton Cottrell, an aspiring pastor, was married to 22-year-old Cheyenne Hedrick for only three days before tragedy struck the couple.

When the two were on their honeymoon in Florida, a strong current pulled them away from the shore, causing Dalton to drown in front of his wife.

“Yesterday afternoon while at the beach the Lord decided to call my husband Dalton to come home to him,” Cheyenne wrote on Facebook after the incident.

Three days before the pastor’s death, the couple tied the knot in front of their families in Kansas City, Missouri.

As the young widow explained, her husband, who was in the sea for the first time, started freaking out and dragging her underwater as she attempted to rescue him from the current.

“She attempted to assist him, but was unable to help him due to him pulling her under,” the police stated according to KCRG-TV.

“She advised at one point after him being under the water for approximately for a minute he came back up, and his eyes were rolled in the back of his head.”

While a lifeguard immediately pulled the young man out of the water and attempted to resurrect him by CPR, the 22-year-old was already gone.

“3 days of wedded bliss turned into a nightmare very quickly for the Cottrell family as well as mine own,” Cheyenne added on Facebook.

“There is so much fear and uncertainty coursing through myself. My parents came down early this morning to be with me as I begin this next journey.

“Never did I think at 22 would I be a wife and then a widow so quickly. Please pray for I and all families as we grief.”
