Newlywed Police Officer, 28, Passed Away While Responding To Reports Of Burglary


PC Andrew Harper, 28, died while responding to reports of a burglary.

The newlywed police officer was described by his heartbroken family as the ‘loveliest person that you will ever meet.’

He was allegedly hit by a car in Berkshire and dragged under the vehicle for a distance before he was hit by another vehicle.

Ten males aged 13 to 30 have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are being held in custody at police stations across Thames Valley.

PC Harper had just tied the knot with Lissie on July 18. They were scheduled to go on a honeymoon next week.

His family were left devastated by his sudden death but said that they were very ‘proud of him.’

Chief Constable John Campbell said he was at the scene with another officer when the incident happened. “What we do know is Andrew had been dragged along by a vehicle,” he said.

He also added that the suspects were detained within an hour and officers are working ‘hard and diligently to find out what happened.’

PC Harper’s family paid tribute to him on Facebook. His grandmother Maureen Shrimpton wrote: “Just a really horrible day.

“Our grandson Andrew was killed last night while doing his police work. So proud of him. Our love goes to his lovely wife, Mum and Dad, brother and all of his family and friends. Love from Nan and Bubba xxx.”

His uncle Dale Shrimpton wrote: “He’s my oldest nephew. My sister’s first born. Mum and dad’s first grandson… and was married two weeks ago at a dream wedding.

“We are devastated. He was the loveliest person that you will ever meet. I can’t begin to tell you how we feel.”
