Cindy Grindstaff showed up to school on Wednesday for a training session for all the teachers. She had been designated a fifth grade class, and is said to have been an excellent instructor with a warm heart.

According to the initial reports, Grindstaff was not teaching any of her pupils both on or offline when she suddenly died while at school. This is likely the sole silver lining in this tragic news, because the trauma that the young students would have received would have been great.

Grindstaff was considered a veteran in the school, who first began teaching children back in 2002. As of now, neither the school nor the school district has disclosed the teacher’s cause of death. It is likely that that they will delegate the role to Grindstaff’s family should they wish to do so.

District Superintendent Larry Putnam confirmed the reports when he sent an email to all the staff members regarding the passing away of Grindstaff, who have maintained a healthy and deep relationship with her colleagues.

Saying that it was with the utmost grief that he shares this news, Putnam told everyone about how Grindstaff suddenly died in her classroom. He added that everyone pray for the Grindstaff family, especially Tracy Poole – Cindy’s sister – who also teaches 5th graders in the district.

Needless to say, those who were most shocked were the children and parents. Brian Pittman remembered how dedicated Grindstaff was to her work, and how deeply she had touched his nephew. He said his nephew seemed shocked and upset to hear the bereavement.

Another parent commented that the tragedy could not have struck a worst person because he had heard from his son how Grindstaff had a talent to encourage children to be the best that they can be – an admirable and rare trait for any instructor.
