A salon owner from Ohio has become a viral sensation for the controversial name of her shop.
However, community members said it needs to be changed as it is offensive.
Owner of Hand Jobs Nails & Spa in Sandusky, Dawn Moon, knew she would hit marketing hold when her shop’s risqué name started going viral on social media.
She told ABC 13: “You don’t want something that they can’t remember or that they can’t pronounce or say.”
“In less than a week, I think the whole country knows about us. You can’t pay for that kind of advertising,” she added.
Moon said the Hand Job is just right for her store’s name as it can be taken literally. She added: “If you go in and get your nose done, it’s called a nose job right? Well you come in and get your hands done it’s a hand job!”
But of course, Moon also has some haters in the town who are not fans of her shop’s name. According to Perkins Township Zoning Director Megan Sherland, there were also some complaints made to the local zoning board.
“Signs should not be text or graphics not be indecent or obscene in nature,” Sherlund said . “We have no stance on it other than we have to take into consideration the entire feel and community of Perkins Township.”
Moon will be informed whether the sign meets zoning restriction. She said she plans on fighting to keep her shop’s name.
One Facebook user commented: “Let’s give them a ‘hand’ for their catchy name. Look at all the free advertising. Some will just stop by to take selfies in front of their sign.”
Another said: “Nailed it, Girl. Awesome!”
