A couple from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, recently became parents after trying for a baby for 18 years.
The couple was blessed with identical twin boys on Mother’s Day.
Fifty-three-year-old Mick and thirty-nine-year-old Ruth O’Malley are now settling into their own family life during the lockdown. The couple received the beautiful life-changing gift after trying for a successful pregnancy for almost two decades.
Over the course of 18 years, the duo had 5 life cycles at Hull IVF Unit. The cycles had gaps in between for counseling, investigations, and check-ups.
However, now, the couple is spending a lot of time with their twin babies – Brendan Crawford and Thomas James O’Malley amid the COVID-19 Government measures.
The mother who will be turning forty soon said that the duo feels completely blessed to finally meet their little ones after such a long wait. Ruth and Mick met each other in 1999 on the factory floor of Golden Wonder.
The couple got married in 2002 and were eager to give birth to their children, as Mick has nine other siblings.
But they were told they could not conceive naturally and required IVF to have healthy babies.
Ruth revealed that the couple went through multiple failed rounds of IVF and until the last one, as their pregnancy collapsed because something or the other would go wrong.
She also said that although IVF was grueling due to all the hormones and injections, she would do it a million times more to get such a beautiful result.
Upon knowing that they were going to have twins, the parents felt overwhelmingly ecstatic. Upon their birth, Mick’s eighty-nine-year-old father Mr. James flew from Scotland to see his 34th,35th grandchildren.
The couple revealed that as soon as lockdown gets over, they will go to Scotland so that Mick’s entire family can meet their newborns.
