Former nursery nurse Sammy Kelly was just standing at the side of the road while her son Archie rode his bike for the first time. She was unable to run while her son was calling her to follow him.

Sammy recalled the heartbreaking incident: “Archie was over the moon that he could ride his pushbike without his daddy’s help, and asked me to chase him as he rode along. He kept shouting, ‘Come on Mummy, come on Mummy,’ desperate to show off – but I ended up having to tell him to stop. I couldn’t keep up.”

Sammy was very active when she was young but after giving birth to her first child Archie, she started gaining weight.

She would eat pre-packed food full of hidden calories. This is how she became size 18.

But after this humiliating incident, the mother decided to lose weight for the sake of her children.

She contacted her local 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan consultant and started eating healthy.

During her diet, she would have porridge for breakfast, prawn salad for lunch, courgette bolognese for dinner, and she would have protein bars as snacks.

She said: “I’ve tried dieting before but the 1:1 diet was different and that’s why I knew it would work. It’s all about portion control. The thing that really helped me was the one to one support that the consultant offers.”

She said: “Once the weight started coming off, I began exercising more than I had in years – going on walks and using the car less and less. Then I decided to do something that I never thought possible – I got my old bike out.”

“Graham and I worked out I hadn’t ridden it in 15 years. But now at the weekends, instead of sitting at home watching movies, we’ll be out as a family on our bikes or down at the local skating rink. My transformation has really benefited the whole family.”

“Now the kids have a different mummy, one that isn’t hiding away but instead is giving them a moment they’ll cherish forever.”
