A 39-year-old mother, who was healthy before having coronavirus, has issued a warning about the virus from her intensive care hospital bed.
Tara Jane Langston filmed herself in an intensive care unit at Hillingdon Hospital, London and told she felt like having ‘glass in her lungs’ as she struggled to breathe.
Last Sunday, Tara was diagnosed with Covid-19 after she started struggling to breathe.
The mother-of-two, who is now out of intensive care and recovering, warned people to take the virus seriously while coughing and struggling to breathe.
Tara initially was diagnosed with a chest infection and was given antibiotics. However, she also took ibuprofen and paracetamol that made her condition worse.
She was rushed to the Hillingdon Hospital in west London after her health deteriorated.
Tara described the virus as ‘horrible’ and told she felt like having glass in her lungs.
She told MailOnline: ‘It’s like having glass in your lungs, it’s hard to explain, but every breath is a battle. It’s absolutely horrible and I wouldn’t want to go through anything like this ever again.”
After being ill for about five days, she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance where she was initially diagnosed with a chest infection.
She said: “I’d originally been diagnosed with a chest infection and given antibiotics and advised to take ibuprofen and paracetamol. I was taking about eight ibuprofen a day and they now think that that exacerbated the problem.”
After being diagnosed with coronavirus on Sunday, she was taken into intensive care.
She filmed herself in the intensive care unit and told she’s ten times better than she was before.
She warned people to take the virus seriously and quit smoking. She said if you don’t, you will end up here like her.
She said in the video: “I’m telling you now you need your f***ing lungs and, please, none of you take any chances, I mean it, because if it gets really bad than you’re going to end up here. My body is fighting this so once again don’t take any chances.”
She went on to say that the virus is not only affecting the elderly as she herself is just 39-year-old and was fit and healthy.
She said that younger people are susceptible too and this is why she is warning to be careful before it’s too late.
Tara is now recovering but still struggling to breathe.
