In a heart-wrenching incident in Kentucky, three people were reportedly arrested for being involved in the sale and purchase of a baby.
The most shocking thing about the incident is that it also involved the mother of the child.
Police received information at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary School that a woman has sold way her child. When confronted the mother regarding the issue, Maria Domingo Perez gave conflicting statements.
After a few interrogations, Maria said that she sold her baby to a man and a woman. When the police spoke with the couple, Pascual Jose Manuel and Catarina Felipe Jose confirmed that they purchased the baby from Maria for $2000.
Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD) confirmed that the social service department had taken custody of the child and the other four children of Maria. Police have also arrested all three involved in the case.
The case against the three has been lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. They are charged with selling/purchasing child for adoption, which is a class D Felony.
It is hard to believe that child selling is still prevalent in society. There are only a few cases that come into the light, and rest are just hidden or neglected. This is the second case in the row for a few weeks.
On November 27, another case was reported where a newborn baby was sold for $500 in Florida. Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted an investigation, wherein an alleged ad was posted about a “brand new baby up for sale at $500”.
The ad said that the “baby is two weeks old and doesn’t make noise at night. I don’t have the condition to take care of the child, and I don’t want to get judged for not wanting the kid.” When police investigated Kenia Quiala Bosque who put up the ad was arrested.
