A mother surprised McDonald’s worker who paid for her meal after she forgot her wallet at home.
Brittany Reed is an Ohio mom who decided to reward the 16-year-old McDonald’s employee who paid for her meal on September 22.
As the mother explained, she was leaving football practice when she stopped at a Waynesville McDonald’s to treat her kids to dinner.
“We go through the drive through order food all three kids are now crying for one reason or the other (and) I go to pay,” Reed explained in her social media post.
As she added, she soon realized she had forgotten her purse at home, being left with no means to pay for the meal she had ordered.
“Welp now I wanted to cry,” the mom added “I look at the young man with tears in my eyes just from being stressed and annoyed and say ‘hun I am so sorry but I have to cancel that order I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight.’”
As Reed continued, the McDonald’s worker, who was later identified as Wyatt Jones, pulled out his own wallet and paid for her order “without hesitation.”
While the mother tried to back out of her order, Jones allegedly insisted on paying for her meal.
Following the teen’s act of kindness, Reed decided to share her story online and managed to raise $46,000 for the hardworking McDonald’s employee. She also returned to the fast-food store to settle her debt despite Jones insisting she didn’t have to repay him.
“I just want his parents to know how KIND & COMPASSIONATE your son was tonight! He made this stressed out momma pause for a moment and realize this is exactly what we parents are trying to do, raise great humans. Well Wyatt sir, you are an amazing human!!!” Reed wrote.
As for Jones, he hopes to buy himself a car with the large sum Good Samaritans raised for him after his generous act.
