A mother and her daughter have been arrested and charged with killing a young 9-month-pregnant girl before cutting open her stomach and stealing her unborn baby from the womb.
The vile duo had allegedly been planning the womb-raiding scheme over the span of several months with the help of the woman’s boyfriend. Following their vicious attack on 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui, whom they strangled to death before stealing her unborn child, the mother took the baby and pretended it was hers.
46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa and her 24-year-old daughter Desiree Figueroa have been charged with aggravated battery of the baby and murder of his mother while Clarisa’s boyfriend, 40-year-old Piotr Bobak, has been charged with concealing death and murder.
Marlen and Clarisa first talked after meeting each other in a Facebook group. Clarisa offered free baby clothes to Marlen who gratefully accepted her proposal before going over to her house. Following the visit, Marlen went missing. Days later, her body was discovered behind the suspects’ house.
On April 23, after murdering the 19-year-old, Clarisa dialed 911 and claimed she’s just given birth. She and her partner, Piotr, named the boy Xander Xavier Bobak and launched a fundraising page on the basis that the boy was a preemie and needed medical attention.
As the investigation revealed, the evil trio had been planning to steal a baby for months. They were frequently posting on social media about the baby boy’s arrival and even shares pictures of a decorated nursery while hunting for expecting mums.
After the trio got arrested, Marlen’s baby boy, Yadiel, has been placed in the custody of his mother’s husband, Giovanni Lopez, and is currently still fighting for his life.
“It’s painful to lose your wife, the woman you love the most. It’s painful,” Giovanni said.
“Why did these bad people do this? She did nothing to them. She was a good person.”
The girl’s father, Arnulfo Ochoa, added:
“Even though we found her without a life, at least we’re grateful that we found her. We’re gonna have justice with those responsible. We’re gonna go hard after them. We won’t let it go. They don’t know the pain they’ve caused. They don’t know.”
